Lowell may get traded.

It seems that this Todd Helton deal is gaining more and more momentum.

This isn’t good news in my opinion, as Helton is not that great of a player. WE DO NOT NEED HIM. But it seems that we want him badly. He’s declining, and I think he’s got one or two decent seasons left in him before he ends up being a no body…

The Sox are asking that in exchange for Lowell, that the Rockies take care of the remaining $9 million that Helton is owed. If they don’t, then the Sox are looking to take Lowell elsewhere, like San Diego for reliever Scott Linebrink. This seems like a decent deal though, and I’d much rather then move Lowell for Linebrink.

Call me a Helton hater, but I guess that’s what it’s going to come down to. Since first hearing about this rumor, I’ve been in disgust from the beginning. Especially for the young talent that we’d be giving up. I just don’t see the great benefit from it.

Why do we need to move Lowell? Well, if the deal with Helton happens, we’ll want to keep Kevin Youkilis, and we’ll have to move Kevin Youkilis to 3rd base, meaning Lowell is out of a spot. Might as well get rid of him.

Ugh, please don’t tell me Helton is coming to Boston.

Thoughts?
